Search Tips

Beware Commonly Used Words: Words such as venous, vein, and blood occur on virtually every page, so searching for these words by themselves will basically return the whole book, rather than useful search results.

Specific Terms Give Better Results: Typing in a specific phrase as opposed to a general term, e.g. popliteal vein instead of vein, will give you more precise search results. However, beware of typing in too many different terms. You may receive no search results because your request was too specific.

Spelling Counts: The search looks for the words exactly as you have typed them, so correct spelling is critical. However, capitalization does not matter.

No Abbreviations: In most cases, terms with common abbreviations are still written out completely in the handbook, so searching on an abbreviation will not give you complete search results.

Additional Information: Please refer to the Handbook Index for a complete list of chapter topics and to the Frequently Asked Questions Index for a list of commonly asked questions by chapter.
